My computer still isn't fixed. I brought it from the store this morning, but it's still acting up. Have to take it back again tomorrow.

Our neighbours moved and left their cat behind. We always put out leftovers and water for the strays and we've been putting milk out there for him as well. Today I found one of the hedgehogs which generally come for the water, in Summer, finishing off the milk in the bowl, and looking pretty pleased about it. He ran off before I could get a photo though.

Haven't been doing much in the past couple of days other than give my tutorings and reading. My head just hasn't been in it. Have managed to more or less keep my health improvement strategies in place.

Once Upon a Time... I used to love Christmas. Going to get moss to set up the nativity scene; the presents under the tree (which I knew were from my family); the slipper on the chimney waiting for the extra present baby Jesus would leave; my mother's "coscorões" and the cookie cake that only got made on Christmas and on birthdays; my family. It was great, it was fun, it was special.

Then, somehow along the way, it became a chore.

I'm not sure when it happened. Maybe it was when my grandmother Joana died (I was 14 or 15 at the time), or maybe it was when nephews and niece stopped spending Christmas night with us. My father dying so close to the hollydays last year, certainly didn't help.

All I know is that these days, I just want the day to come and go as fast as possible. I was even hoping that, this year, my brother would go and spend Christmas with his wife's niece in Germany so I wouldn't have to bother with the whole thing.

Perhaps things will change once I have children of my own. But sometimes I suspect I've lost the spirit for good. I haven't turned into a Scrooge, but I really cannot feel it.

That's all I got for the first day. Not very promising, but at least some semblance of a story is starting to form in my mind.

I think tomorrow will go better. For starters, no lying down to read after lunch. I know how that one ends.

My computer needs to go to the repair shop again. It's still acting up despite all my efforts. Hopefully, it will be nothing too serious.

ETA: Turns out, the problems seem to be over. I'm going to leave it be for now and see how things work out.

Buddhist monks have been peacefully protesting against the military regime of Myanmar. Now that the international community has finally started listening, hardly any monks can be seen in the streets, as reports of brutality emerge and the state's television insists that all is well and that the people supports the junta.

It is important that we help maintain people aware of this situation before it is once again submerged by economical interests.
